The Youngers Capture The Perfect Picture
Pennsylvania-based roots-rock and Americana band The Youngers are set to release their brand-new record for 2016 entitled Picture of You recorded at the legendary Sound Emporium in Nashville, TN! Thanks to their sizable network of fans, The Youngers raised over $20,000 for the project through an online KickStarter campaign. The resulting 11-song independent release, Picture of You, features twangy guitars, driving rhythms, and a variety of sonic colors and textures – all of which serve to underscore their reflective and, at times, introspective songwriting. Engineered by Grammy®-winner Chuck Turner, Picture of You has a classic, timeless vibe while managing to sound fresh at the same time.
Joining founders Todd Notobartolo (vocals, guitars, lap steel and mandolin) and Randy Krater (basses and vocals) on Picture of You are bandmates Matt Thren (electric and nylon-string classical guitar) and Bruce Kissinger (drums). Nashville-based session ace Tony Harrell added some finishing touches on keys. Founded in 1999, Picture of You is the third full-length release by the band, following 2005’s Output and 2008’s critically-acclaimed Heritage. Heritage was recorded at the Cash Cabin in Tennessee and produced by John Carter Cash, son of country music legends Johnny Cash and June Carter.
Following in the footsteps of American musical storytellers, Picture of You deals with relatable themes including workaday blues (“Running in the Night”), living paycheck to paycheck (“No Money”), earthly temptation (“Devil’s Fingers”), and profound inter-connectedness (“Morning Sun” and “Let it Roll”). The title track (“Picture of You”) encourages the listener to fondly reminisce. Instead of merely treading on familiar territory, however, Picture of You is a sonic adventure, full of contrasts and surprises, including a dramatic mid-song left turn (“Trying to Get to You”) and stark, unadorned beauty (“Fly Away”). Elegant classical guitar and piano, chiming mandolin, ethereal steel guitar – Picture of You brims with a certain lushness seldom achieved in the digital age.
Picture of You will be available for purchase beginning September 16, 2016, and is available on CD and digital download from the band’s website:
